As an international student, I was enrolled as a full-time student. Also, I participated in many volunteer activities in Chicago such as advocacy project educator, scientific research, and medical student externship.

Was time commitment reasonable?
The time commitment was reasonable, and I was able to balance work and school assignments.

Professionally, what are you doing now?
I am applying for medical residency training in the U.S. My ultimate goal is to become a teacher for future healthcare professionals.

Tell us about a “Northwestern moment.” More specifically, was there a moment either in class or otherwise associated with the program where something really clicked for you?
The overall experience was fantastic. I was amazed to realize the need for improving quality and reducing the cost of health care in this country. In this class, I learned that less than 50% of the U.S. population receives recommended health care. Later courses gave me the tools to better persuade patients and promote patient-centered care. Every class had its unique charm and value.

How has the program changed the way you view healthcare?
Thanks to this program, I am a better consumer and provider of health care in the United States. I will use my communication skills to provide better patient care regarding quality, safety, and patient experience. My communications skills will enhance patient outcomes as I bring a new approach to the patient- doctor relationship.

Did you discover anything new or unexpected at Northwestern?
The program gave me many opportunities and benefits. Health Communication has been a valuable program where networking, education quality, and student support surpassed my expectations.
